The Apparel Designer is responsible for managing the design process for his/her product category and in partner with all phases of the product development process. This includes product design and presentation, trend research and presentation, market research, and color/fabric/trim development. The Designer must be able to create authentic, world-class product that meet performance expectations and business strategies. This position is a designer of product and concept, and needs to be a self-motivated team player who is forward thinking, conceptual, adaptive and original in approach. He/She must be a user of the product to fully advance the category and understand the technical needs.
Working Relationships:
The Designer must be team-oriented and able to build functional relationships within his/her category team, which includes the Design Manager, Product Line Manager, Developer and Sourcing team. This person will also work closely with other Designers, Product Managers and Materials/Trim Developers and report to the Design Manager.
Qualifications: • College degree in Apparel Design or related field
• 3-5 years design experience, working in the sports or outdoor industry highly preferred
• Experience designing Men’s and Women’s product; performance wear, sportswear, active wear
• Dynamic, influential and team-oriented player who can manage the entire design process and coordinate all development needs
• Strategic thinker who is self-motivated and self-managed to meet deadlines and provide regular updates to supervisor on project status
• Clear and effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Experience with modern manufacturing techniques and overseas working relationships
• Passionate and confident to work cross-functionally to grow and take the business to the next level.
• Outdoor enthusiast
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
