Position Profile
Web Developer
Position Summary
The Web Developer will join the E-commerce team to develop, design and program new web site features and troubleshoot & maintain existing software. The position will also collaborate with external consultants on various web site projects. Primary technologies are Microsoft based .Net tools: Visual Studio, ASP, Visual Basic, SQL-Server, & Commerce Server.
Company Interfaces
The position reports directly to the Project Manager of Web Development.
The Web Developer will interface with IS, Web Editor, Marketing, Advertising, Dealer, Catalog, Operations, Retail personnel and consultants as necessary.
General Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
1. Work with internal customers to assess, develop, organize, and maintain existing and new services on our E-commerce web sites.
2. Build user interface applications and back-end databases using various programming and scripting languages.
3. Programs complex and custom Web pages.
4. Assists in project planning and Web site (technical) design and architecture.
5. Create prototypes and functional specifications for software projects.
6. Meet with system analysts / architects on specifics of projects, new technologies and deadlines.
7. Determine new Web technologies to utilize, such as browsers, languages, and plug-ins based on company’s needs.
8. Conceptualize long-term needs of Web development and plans and manage related projects.
9. Make suggestions on Web-based technical standards for specific Web sites.
10. Maintain a stable and well performing web service – minimize website down time, maintain efficient disk I/O operations, fast and stable connections to the AS/400, effective use of CPU cycles, troubleshoot database, web server, commerce, customer service and other software errors.
Specific Qualifications
* Demonstrated propensity for results
* Technical proficiency in Mircosoft .NET based tools: Visual Studio, ASP, Visual Basic, SQL-Server, Commerce Server
* Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team based, learning environment
* Three to five years experience developing and integrating web based applications
* Experience evaluating, installing, and supporting web tools and solutions
* Ability to work independently, with strong team collaboration experience
* Ability to analyze and solve problems
* Experience and desire to work within a dynamic learning organization
* Ability to provide on call support of assigned applications
* Travel required, less than 10%
